In 1974, the terracotta army was unexpectedly discovered outside of Xi'an, China. The extensive tomb complex unearthed thousands of infantry soliders, including archers, armed warriors, and calvery men. All soliders were originally equipped with weapons, led by bronze charriots drawn by terracotta horses.
Terracotta Warrior (6) is a part of a small collection of terracotta replicas aquired by the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre. The terracotta warriors in the museum reflect the extensive number of sculptures, found at the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China. The tomb is estimated over 50 sq. km, making it the largest tomb site in China. The archeological site located at the Qin tomb is considered to be an eighth wonder of the world.
