Catalogue Entry
Shiwan Ceramics are closely connected to characters reflected in Chinese mythology. This particular character depicts a wealthy man with plenty of leisure time. Look at his clothing: a long robe with a piece of precious jade hanging from his waist, covered by a cotton vest and a cap decorated with a piece of jade at the front. A folded fan was inserted on the back of his neck. His pet bird is kept in a cage protected by a piece of cloth.
It seems that this man has just finished his tea at a tea house and is playing with his pet bird.
