This seven-character couplet has a profound meaning. Calgary and Chinatown have developed a lot of construction over the years. Through the efforts of generations, the city in front of us has become lively and prosperous.

A standard couplet, its most essential feature is "confrontation". When it is expressed verbally, it is a verbal confrontation, and when it is written, it is a verbal confrontation. What is the meaning of confrontation? Usually we mention the following four requirements: equal word count, relative parts of speech, oblique and oblique characters, and the same syntax. The most critical of the four requirements is equal number of words and oblique oblique characters.

Taking this couplet as an example, "thousands of years" versus "hundreds of years" also reflect the meaning of the length of time. "Calgary" and "Chinatown" refer to the nouns of two places, while "building a foundation" and "going through vicissitudes of life" have opposite meanings, and the artistic conception is unrestrained and far-reaching.

Throughout the ages, calligraphers have liked to use couplets as gifts and gifts, and literati have also liked to hang them in their homes. They are charming and artistic, making them very popular. Couplets placed in the living room mainly have two functions, one is educational and cultural, and the other is social communication. Therefore, the couplets in the bedroom must first reflect the cultural accomplishment of the owner, and secondly, the appreciation level of the visitors must be taken into consideration, and the style and beauty of the couplets must be considered. I wonder if you will consider hanging a pair of your favorite couplets at home after listening to this introduction?

The popularity and prosperity of couplets and its combination with the art of calligraphy have directly affected everything related to culture in China. Chinese calligraphy is extensive and profound, with endless charm. Couplets are concise, neat and precise, with the number of couplets ranging from four to more words. They vary, with five- and seven-character rhymed poems and eight-character verses being the most common ones. They cover a wide range of content, including poems, aphorisms, aphorisms, proverbs and even vernacular texts. They are elegant and beautiful, and are actually chapters filled with pearls.
