Catalogue Entry
The bronze ding replica in the Cultural Centre collection is divided into three components. Each section would've allowed cooking of different foods simultaneously. Bronze vessels were very popular in the Shang Dynasty (1600-1046 B.C.). Bronzeware dating back to the Shang Dynasty is noted for its size and naive forms. Shang Dynasty bronze is referred to having a "feroscious beauty", due to their volume and compositions that were often repetitive and unhinged.
